My paintings are visual stories about people. They capture emotions, personalities, and spirit.
Unique compositions, vivid colour, bold line, deliberate brushstrokes, and a painterly style are characteristic of my work. Also, the way I juxtapose my subject with other objects is very distinctive. I often have a ‘hook’ that attracts the attention of viewers. The ‘hook’ may be a large, yellow bottle in front of a girl focused on her iPhone; a red canoe containing 3 people with one woman looking directly at you from a Lake Louise landscape; or intuitive backgrounds with eye-catching patterns and textures. The resulting art work is alive and engaging.
My source of inspiration may vary, but my style is readily identifiable. Added to my repertoire are landscapes and paintings of beautiful (often comical) birds and animals. Inevitably, I return to my first love of portraying people.
